CANTON GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 22 YEARS!

CANTON GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 22 YEARS!

CGMA's 21st Anniversary Celebration

The 22nd Annual Scholarship Awards & Gospel Music Celebration will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Greater Faith Calvary Pentecostal Church, 305 Railroad Street in Canton, MS. This beloved tradition is presented by the Canton Gospel Music Association (CGMA) in partnership with our dedicated community sponsors.

This year’s celebration features an inspiring lineup of musical guests, including Maurette Brown Clark, Gen Richards, Stephen Johnson, and the CGMA Children’s & Youth Mass Choir. We are honored to present Lifetime Achievement Awards to Ret. Judge Mamie McClendon Chinn and Dr. Flonzie Brown Wright, two pillars of excellence whose contributions continue to uplift our community. Additional recognitions include the 20th Year Honoree, Nathaniel Cole, and the Mayor’s Award, presented to Dewey Henry.

A special musical tribute will honor the extraordinary legacies of Richard Smallwood and Professor Samuel Whisenton, celebrating their profound impact on gospel music and generations of musicians.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening will be the awarding of music scholarships to emerging young musicians and high school seniors. To date, CGMA has proudly awarded 185 scholarships totaling more than $35,000, investing in the next generation of talent and leadership.

“It is fitting that Canton—with its rich heritage, deep spiritual roots, and strong church affiliations—hosts an event to honor one of music’s finest genres,” says Cynthia Goodloe Palmer, Founder and President of CGMA.

For tickets, souvenir book ads, sponsor packages, or additional information, please contact Cynthia Goodloe Palmer or any CGMA member at 601‑918‑7809, CantonGospelMusic@gmail.com, or visit www.CantonGospelMusic.com.
